The monument played an integral role during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade during which millions of slaves were shipped to the Americas. The Cape Coast Fort Dungeon presents one with a comprehension and appreciation of the age of European exploration, interaction between Europeans, Africans and the Carribeans.
